Creating Supportive Inserts for Baskets [Tutorial]

In this video, Nicole Grabow, Objects Conservator at the Midwest Art Conservation Center, demonstrates how to work with baskets that need support or inserts, describing how each basket presents unique handing and preservation challenges. Grabow shows how to create three different types of supports for baskets: a basket ring, an ethafoam insert, and a sewn soft Tyvek insert. This tutorial supplements Grabow's session, "Creating supportive inserts for baskets" given at the 2016 ATALM annual conference held in Phoenix, Arizona, on September 10-13, 2016.
