Cleaning Baskets [Tutorial]

In this video, Nicole Grabow, Objects Conservator at the Midwest Art Conservation Center, provides a demonstration of a conservation technique for cleaning baskets. Some of the topics covered include: assessing the conditions of baskets, evaluating if baskets needs cleaning, use of brushes, handling baskets, and the materials needed for cleaning of baskets. This tutorial supplements Grabow’s session “Cleaning and Mending Baskets,” given at the 2016 ATALM annual conference held in Phoenix, Arizona, on September 10-13, 2016.
