The Core Documents Your Museum Needs (Part 1 of 2): Mission, Strategic Plan, Code of Ethics

In the first part of this double session, Julie Hart, Senior Director of Museum Standards & Excellence at the American Alliance of Museums; Erin Younger, Independent Professional and Research Associate at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage; Arthur H. (Art) Wolf, Founder & Principal of WOLF Consulting; and Anne McCudden, Executive Director of the Thomas County Historical Museum cover three of the five core documents fundamental for basic professional museum operations: Mission Statement, Strategic Plan, and Code of Ethics. The presentation slides provide a walk through describing the standards and best practices for each core document, how to develop/strengthen each document, and the importance of having them in place. This session was part of the ATALM annual conference held in Phoenix, Arizona, on October 10-13, 2016.
