Making Dictionaries for Native Languages with Lexique Pro [Tutorial]
In this video, Gary Holton, Director of the Alaska Native Language Archive, discusses the benefits of using digital tools for creating Native languages dictionaries. He focuses on one particular software, Lexique Pro, which allows users to record lexical information, link it to audiovisual recordings of people speaking the language, generate online dictionaries and other documents useful for access, and store the dictionary in an archival format. This video supplements the SHN half-day workshop, "Preserving and Enhancing Native Language Resources in Tribal Libraries, Archives, and Museums" given by Holton and Andrea Berez-Kroeker, Assistant Professor of Linguistics at University of Hawai'i, as part of the pre-ATALM SHN Workshops, held in Washington, DC on September 10, 2015.
