In this video, Susan Heald, Textile Conservator, National Museum of the American Indian, discusses methods of dry surface cleaning for different types of soiling on various fabrics, and demonstrates tips and tricks for vacuuming in concert with common materials such as insect screening. This video supplements the session "Surface Cleaning for Textiles and Garments" given at the 2018 ATALM annual conference held in Prior Lake, Minnesota, on October 8-11, 2018, and is part 1 of 2 short videos in this collection.
