In this video tutorial, Monique Fischer, Senior Photograph Conservator at the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) Making, demonstrates how to make a film viewer to help conduct a polarization test and how to positively identify polyester film. This video supplements the session "Paper, Glass, Plastic: Identification and Care of Photographic Negatives" given at at the 2017 ATALM annual conference held in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, on October 10-13, 2017.
