Making Your Library an Essential Community Asset
In this presentation, Allison Waukau, Community Liaison at Hennepin County Library; Becky Wolf, Community Embedded Librarian at Hennepin County Library; and Hannah Buckland, State Library Program Specialist at the Minnesota Department of Education, discuss how libraries can play a pivotal role in strengthening Native communities through building relationships with, and working alongside, community organizations and tribal government offices. In this session, attendees learned useful, practical information about building relationships and trust, planning and delivering successful public programs, developing culturally specific collections, and working toward ensuring tribal libraries become essential community anchors. This session was part of the ATALM annual conference held in Temecula, California, on October 8-10, 2019.
