The Importance of Language Documentation


In this video, Gary Holton, Director of the Alaska Native Language Archive, discusses the importance of language archiving for preserving linguistic diversity and revitalizing Native languages and cultural identity. This video supplements the SHN half-day workshop, "Preserving and Enhancing Native Language Resources in Tribal Libraries, Archives, and Museums" given by Holton and Andrea Berez-Kroeker, Assistant Professor on Linguistics at University of Hawai'i, as part of the pre-ATALM SHN Workshops, held in Washington, DC on September 10, 2015.
