Finding Archival Collections Online

Description:

In this video, Caitlin Haynes, Reference Archivist at the Smithsonian Institution's National Anthropological Archives, provides a general introduction to what archives are, why we want to use them, why they are useful, and how to go about searching for materials in archives. Caitlin also briefly discusses the kinds of tools that are available to discover archival materials at the Smithsonian Institution. This video supplements the session, "Finding Indigenous-Related Collections in the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History and National Museum of the American Indian, and the Library of Congress" given at the 2017 ATALM annual conference held in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, on October 10-13, 2017.
