CARE: Caring About and Repatriating Everything - Sharing a Model for Solidarity and Support
Your Neighborhood Museum is an organization led by culture workers of color with backgrounds in repatriation, conservation, arts programming, and community organizing. We share our skills, networks, and experience directly with communities. CARE is a Mellon funded pilot program with 10 fellows from California tribes that is completing its first year. Fellows form a cohort of mutual support and guide the curriculum development which includes NAGPRA and conservation consulting. All fellows are fully funded, including funds to support their cultural work and child/elder care. The ATALM community is invited to discuss building systems of care and support ahead of the 2023 CARE applications window.
This session was part of the ATALM annual conference held in Temecula, California, on October 25-27, 2022.
