Beyond Google: Facilitating Indigenous Information Stewardship
In this presentation, Maile Alau, Executive Director of Hawaii Maoli; Keikilani Meyer, MLISc, Project Coordinator of Hawaii Maoli; Kuuleilani Reyes, PhD, Kumu of Hawaii Maoli; and Rae-Anne Montague, PhD and Evaluator of Hawaii Maoli, share lessons learned from developing modules for immersion and charter schools in areas including information literacy, special collections, and archives to support curriculum and research on topics such as genealogy, and oral histories. The presentation slides show projects in which dynamic strategies and strong relationships create new pathways for Indigenous youth engagement with libraries and repositories. This session was part of the ATALM annual conference held in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, on October 10-13, 2017.
