Native Artists and Scholars Bring Past to Present Program from a Native artist's perspective
In this video, Jeri Redcorn, Caddo ceramic artist at the Oklahoma City Metro Caddo Cultural Club, discusses her role in the IMLS-funded project "Native Artists and Scholars Bring Past to Present: Multi-Disciplinary Perspectives for Mississippian Culture Pottery." As one of three other Native artists involved in the project, Jeri works to correct and change the names of Caddo pottery collections, bringing a more culturally responsive way of describing cultural materials, one that is relevant to the Caddo people. This video supplements the session, "Native Artists and Scholars Bring Past to Present: Cataloguing from Home" given at the 2017 ATALM annual conference held in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, on October 10-13, 2017.
